Richard Ojeda is a tough and determined US Army officer. He is a West Virginian veteran, educator, and is currently state Senator. His campaign is focusing on jobs and industry, a living wage and support for Social Security, education and healthcare. Ojeda is promoting a new kind of populism, one that is upending the political landscape in Appalachia; he’s championed the teachers’ strike, a new marijuana industry, and higher taxes on the state’s sacred cows—oil and natural gas companies. Major Ojeda voted for Trump but has come to regret it. In his words, “Come on. It’s been a circus. Put your cell phone down. Stop tweeting and fighting with Rosie O’Donnell. Be a president.”Major Ojeda holds degrees from West Virginia State University and Webster University. He has completed and graduated from numerous military courses to include the Command General Staff College. After 24 years of service, Major Ojeda retired from the U.S Army in 2013He graduated from Logan High School in 1988 and enlisted in the US Army. A steadfast soldier and warrior academic, Ojeda graduated and received his commission to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant from West Virginia State College as a commissioned Engineering Officer in 1997 with orders to serve at Fort Bragg. In short, Richard Ojeda is an Army veteran, community leader, and current state Senator who wants to give working families a voice in Washington D.C.
