Currently resides in Charleston.Mark Sanford a libertarian Republican and was an ally of Ron Paul. He is a member of the right-wing Freedom Caucus and the Republican Liberty Caucus. Sanford previously served as governor of South Carolina. Following the financial crash of 2008, Governor Sanford attempted to reject $700 million in stimulus funds for South Carolina. This unpopular action was overturned when the state supreme court ruled that only the legislature could accept or decline the stimulus funds. In 2009, after an unexplained disappearance, Sanford revealed that he had engaged in an affair with an Argentine woman. This led to divorce by his wife and censure by the South Carolina General Assembly.Sanford voted with fellow Republicans to repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) and pass the American Health Care Act. On the subject of gun control he believes that the second amendment is “the teeth behind every one of the other rights enshrined within the Bill of Rights.” On the subject of immigration, Sanford supports the construction of a wall along the Mexican border.In 2010, the watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington named Sanford one of eleven worst governors in the United States because of ethics issues throughout Sanford’s term as governor and in Congress.

Joe, youngest of 5 brothers, born in Kentucky, married and expecting a child, spent summers on SC’sbeaches. He moved to Charleston in 2014. He studied Ocean Engineering at College of Charleston,working to pay for his education and received his degree in Florida. He worked in a small firm designing,permitting and overseeing the construction of marina and coastline development, all the while strivingnot to impact negatively the marine environment. He got a pilot’s license and a SCUBA certification tohelp in his job. He then moved to South America to learn Spanish, returned to attend law school atNorthern Kentucky Law, working and gaining experience in both civil and criminal areas of the law. Heheld positions in law school where he fought to cut costs of legal education. He now concentrates onconstruction law and is active with legal organizations in Charleston; he can practice in SC and inKentucky. He and his wife are co-owners of Soul Yoga + Wellness. His passion is people and devoted tosolving problems.
