Madeleine Dean is running for Congress because, in her words, “Washington is in crisis. I’m running to be a part of the solution. I’ll use my experience to hold President Trump accountable; to fight for the middle class – not for deficit- exploding tax cuts to the wealthiest; to adequately address the opioid epidemic devastating our communities; and to stand up to the gun lobby as if our children’s future and lives depend upon it – because they do.” Madeleine is a graduate of La Salle University, and earned her law degree at Widener University. Madeleine practiced law with the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers and went on to serve as the executive director. Madeleine then opened a small, three-woman law practice in Glenside, and served as in-house counsel for her husband’s growing bicycle business. While she and her husband were raising three young sons, Mad changed career paths to become an assistant professor in the English Department at La Salle University for more than 10 years. With her children grown, Madeleine became a public servant herself. She served as a local township commissioner and was elected to be a state representative. After election to the State House, Madeleine has been an outspoken member, championing progressive priorities like public education, combating addiction, equal rights, access to healthcare, ethics, and criminal justice reform. Madeleine is dedicated to reducing gun violence and the problem of illegal guns. The youngest of seven children, Madeline grew up in Glenside, graduating from Abington High School. She and her husband PJ Cunnane live in Abington Township, have three grown sons, two daughters-in-law, and one granddaughter.
