He is a member of the Southern California Advisory Council for the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, the Advisory Council for the College of Arts and Sciences at George Washington University, and the Brown University Diversity Council. He previously served on the President’s Advisory Committee on the Arts for The Kennedy Center.Gil is married with twin boys. The son of a public school cafeteria worker and a Vietnam veteran, Gil was the first in his family to attend college.
