Lee has said, “My positions on gun safety will be based on evidence, not ideology… I support the 2nd Amendment and I support gun safety. I will never infringe on the rights of responsible gun owners. Responsible gun owners know that supporting the 2nd Amendment goes hand in hand with common-sense solutions to reduce gun violence and prevent senseless deaths. My priorities are better enforcement of existing laws, closing dangerous loopholes, and implementing new protections that are proven to save lives. Lee is from Union Grove and graduated from Arab High School in 2011. After attending Snead State Community College in Boaz, he got a degree in philosophy from Auburn University in December 2015. In February 2016, he began a job managing the conference center at Camp McDowell, a center for persons with cognitive disabilities. A part-time Episcopal youth minister during his senior year in college, he thought he would go to seminary but got more interested in politics. However, Auman’s life has been inextricably affected by his involvement and leadership in the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama. He views his entry into political life as a mere continuation of his ministry to serve God’s people, but he is uninterested in promulgating his own theological or religious views. Rather, Auman says “My platform is about plans, not cliches. I will offer solutions based on evidence, not ideology. I will put people before party and service before politics.”
