Danner grew up in Marietta, Georgia and attended Samford University. After graduating with a B.A. in English he spent ten years managing business telephone systems. In 2004, Danner started Free the Hops, a grassroots organization lobbying to eliminate Prohibition-era regulations on beer. These efforts succeeded and the brewing industry began to thrive in Alabama for the first time in a hundred years, contributing hundreds of millions of dollars to the state economy. Today, he manages the craft beer portfolio for a beverage wholesaler. He lives in Vestavia Hills with his wife and two children.
